The Julio Fine Arts Gallery at Loyola University Maryland presents Brenton Good: Assisi. In June 2016, Brenton Good visited the Italian town of Assisi, known as the birth place of St. Francis, and set in the undulating hills of Umbria. Good, an abstract painter and printmaker, brought back drawings of Assisi and began to combine the landscapes with his more familiar gridded abstract works. According to the artist: “These hovering forms and overlapping colors found in nature relate directly to other abstract works being created simultaneously. Upon closer inspection this seemingly disparate group of prints and paintings reveal to the viewer a shared systematic process of discovery. Whether the armature happens to be a landscape or a grid, the investigation is still the constant friction between flatness and atmosphere. “

Brenton Good is a printmaker and painter living in Camp Hill, PA. He is an Associate Professor of Art at Messiah College where he is also chair of the Department of Art and Design. He received his MFA in Printmaking from the University of Dallas in 2005, and has exhibited his prints and paintings both nationally and internationally.
