Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper

Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper

Led by one of the most powerful fiddler alive, 2017 Grammy nominee and 10 time IBMA fiddler of the year, Michael Cleveland, hard driving traditional bluegrass doesn’t get much better brighter than what you hear with Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper.

Indiana native Michael Cleveland quickly became known as one of the hottest attractions in bluegrass, aptly achieving recognition for his blistering and unconventional fiddle style, and not for the fact that he is blind. His love for bluegrass began early, and in 1990 he first appeared at Bill Monroe's renowned Bean Blossom Festival. In 1993, when he was just 13-years-old, he appeared as Alison Krauss' guest at the Grand Ole Opry, soon appearing on A Prairie Home Companion and playing before the U.S. Congress. In 1999, after graduating from the Kentucky School for the Blind, Cleveland joined Dale Ann Bradley and the Coon Creek Girls before eventually heading out on his own. Cleveland plays with so much fire, drive and virtuosity that audiences are often left shaking their heads in amazement. Together with his band Flamekeeper (four-time IBMA Instrumental Band of the Year Award winners), Cleveland delivers some of the most powerful, exciting and authentic bluegrass you can find.
