SENSES

A broadly accessible dance performance

The Collective
April 19 – 22

The Collective has created a welcoming environment for experiencing dance as an every body experience through their newest creation and premier of SENSES. The work produced for SENSES provides multiple points of entry through a variety of sensory experiences paired with dance. Senses such as touch, taste, smell will be incorporated throughout the performance in an attempt to shift the perception of who dances and how dance is experienced.

NOTE: A sign language interpreter will translate both performances of SENSES.

In addition to SENSES, The Collective will host a series of Open Marleys, on Thursday, April 19 (Artist Edition) and Saturday, April 22 (Open Call.) Similar to an “open mic night”, the performance space will be open for choreographers to show work or work-in-progress with feedback from the audience facilitated and encouraged.

The Collective, Baltimore’s hub for professional dancers and choreographers, is a non-profit organization based in Baltimore City and home for seventeen dance artists who gather to create new work and promote dance as an art form. The Collective is in residence at the Bryn Mawr School where the company offers bi-weekly, open to the public dance classes for pre-professional students and adult movers. The Collective is currently co-directed by Alyson Jacques and Sonia Synkowski.
