The Painted Screen Society set up shop for the Summer of ’17 at a Pop-Up Gallery in the Highlandtown Arts & Entertainment District. The location couldn’t have been be more perfect! Highlandtown was once a neighborhood filled with painted screens. More recently Highlandtown took on the “100 Screens for 100 Years” project with gusto filling the windows of area businesses as well has homes with a new generation of painted screens.
This Pop-Up event is a great opportunity to learn about the art of painted screens. In addition to "exhibited" work, there are screens for sale as well as painted screen inspired objets d'art. Not to mention THE BOOK and the Movie! A Walking Tour of Highlandtown Painted Screens map is available at the Pop-Up.
Open: Friday, Oct 5 5-9pm
Location: 3522-A Bank Street @ Conkling St
(Entrance on Conkling between the "Red Roof" awnings.)
