Comedy Night: Quincy Jones

Comedy Night: Quincy Jones

A lot of people say they'll work until they drop. Quincy Jones is doing it.

The stand-up comic (no relation to the music mogul who has the same name) was told over a year ago that he only had one year to live. He was doing gigs nightly, but the diagnosis forced him to double-down on his craft. Jones subsequently appeared on the Ellen Degeneres’ Show, who began to advocate for him to get a comedy special. HBO came on board and this past year they debuted Quincy Jones: Burning the Light, a hilarious and inspirational hour long special.

Live, Quincy has honed his voice, weaving together stories and everyday observations that cover everything from Subway cookies to police brutality. His crowd interaction and witty off-the-cuff responses make him a highly sought after performer who has worked with many comics, including Rory Scovel, Ian Edwards, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, and more.

Now, over a year after he was given terminal diagnosis, he is still gigging between treatments and making audiences laugh. Quincy is an inspiration and funny as hell.
