DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a giving vehicle established as a public charity and allows charitable contributions. With a DAF, you will receive an immediate tax deduction for any money put into the DAF and then can recommend grants from the fund to qualifying charitable organizations.

You can support the work of GBCA by directing gifts to us through your donor-advised fund. Visit your DAF’s website and choose Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance as the charity of choice when directing a donation.

IRA DISTRIBUTIONS

The Charitable IRA Rollover gift is a great option for making annual gifts to your favorite charities. If you are 70 ½ or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 in gifts in a calendar year by December 31 to qualified non-profits like GBCA. Generally, when you take a distribution from your IRA, it is treated as taxable income. Under this provision, you can reduce your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize deductions, by directing the distribution directly to the charity. Certain restrictions and requirements must be followed when making this type of gift, but it’s a simple process that your IRA administrator can help facilitate.
