Hair Cuttery and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) are joining forces for Hair Cuttery’s latest iteration of its Share-A-Haircut program. On Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2, for every haircut purchased at one of Hair Cuttery’s nearly 900 salons, a free haircut certificate will be donated to a victim of domestic violence through NNEDV’s member programs. Through the partnership, Hair Cuttery and NNEDV will work closely to distribute thousands of free haircut certificates to individuals affected by domestic violence, including women, children and men.

The fashion show features Softies – big, animal-loving influencers from Show Your Soft side campaign – who will strut the runway “modeling” some of the adorable dogs and cats available for adoption from BARCS.

The Maryland Half Marathon & 5K returns to Maple Lawn this year with 100 percent of the net proceeds benefitting the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center. This race, which will be held for the ninth year in a row, has raised more than $2 million for cancer research.
All Half Marathon & 5K participants will receive a customizable fundraising page and are eligible for race premiums. This year’s Maryland Half Marathon & 5K will also feature a Kids Fun Run, Kids Zone for families with children and a post-race festival.

In celebration of the running of the 142nd Preakness, Lexington Market will host its first-ever Crab Race Festival outdoors adjacent to the Lexington Market Arcade (between Eutaw and North Paca Streets.) The happy hour event pays tribute to the historic Crab Derby, held annually at the Market in advance of The Preakness. Food from Faidley’s Seafood and other iconic Market vendors will be available along with local craft brews and specialty cocktails.
