AVAM's newest one-man show, "Reverend Albert Lee Wagner: Miracle At Midnight," is in celebration of one of America's most prominent visionary artists. Curated from 50+ Wagner masterpieces recently gifted to the museum by Gene and Linda Kangas, this show will also include two of Reverend Wagner's largest works, donated to AVAM's permanent collection ten years ago by Pat Handal.
This special exhibit celebrates the pivotal role the arts have had in advancing the ideals of Columbia and inspiring the local community. Select artwork from The Rouse Company | The Howard Hughes Corporation art collection – originally on display at the Rouse headquarters building but largely tucked away since the company’s relocation in 2013 – will once again be on display for all to enjoy.
REINVENTION: The Work of Chris Bathgate will explore how modern and traditional machine work can be harnessed to create unique artistic expressions. Featuring 28 works of art, REINVENTION will open on Friday, March 24, 2017 and will remain open through March 11, 2018. REINVENTION will also include schematic drawings of Bathgate's work done both digitally and through Diazo printing, an antiquated process used to create copies of architectural and technical drawings, commonly known as blueprints.
McDaniel hosts the premiere of a major exhibition highlighting the cultural and historical significance of the circus. Rice Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Saturday, noon–5 p.m.
Collage work by artists from the Eyesplice Collective, including Ellen Mueller, Megan Hildebrandt, Magnolia Laurie, Cynthia Mason, Sarah Kelly, Sarah Nicole Phillips, and Lauren Howard.
A free reception will be held on September 15 from 6-8:30pm as part of the Arts Council’s Annual Meeting and Grant Awards presentation. Resident artists will also host Open Studios from 7-8pm that evening.
UMBC's Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture presents Gun Show, an exhibition of more than 100 life-size replicas of assault rifles created by artist David Hess from “rescued” objects. The exhibition is curated by Kathy O’Dell, associate professor of visual arts and special assistant to the dean for education and arts partnerships.

The inaugural exhibition for the BMA’s new Center for People & Art brings together 37 works from across the BMA’s collection to explore the universal theme of home. Visitors will discover paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, textiles, and works on paper from the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands, as well as four miniature rooms, plus a variety of interactive features presented in three thematic areas:
Altered Realities, MAP’s Annual Fall Benefit Exhibition, will open Thursday, September 14 and will be on display at Maryland Art Place through Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Altered Realities focuses on uncanny interpretations of the everyday experience. The show will highlight works of art that subvert the viewer’s perspectives literally or metaphorically.

Top of the World Observation Level presents "Invisible Cities,"a solo exhibition of photographic works by Adam Davies. The exhibition is on view from Saturday, September 30th 2017 through September 30th 2018. Don't miss the opening reception on Thursday, September 28th from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Over the past four years, Adam Davies has built a series of photographs showing structures in the American landscape that are overlooked or marginalized: deserted sites, hidden passageways, the undersides of bridges.Rather than as documentary photographs, Davies thinks of his works as psychological portraits of places as seen through the gaze of 8 x 10 inch large-format camera.

MICA's B.F.A. in Game Design presents its annual Fall Arcade, a curated display of playable student designed games, including table-top, local multiplayer games and VR experiences.
Most of the games were developed over a three to four week period by small teams in the program's Gameplay, 2D Game Design, 3D Game Design courses.
Learn about the rhythms and instruments that comprise Korean traditional percussion, Samulnori, which literally means"to play four things." These "things" include changgo (hourglass drum), buk (barrel drum), kweanggarri (small gong) and jing (large gong). The hands-on workshop is led by Sebastian Wang, director of the University of Maryland's Korean Percussion Ensemble and Executive Director of the Washington Samulnori.
MICA and the Mount Royal School of Art M.F.A. program present internationally recognized artist Xu Bing discussing his global art practice, which is known for large-scale installations that incorporate a variety of materials, such as tobacco, silkworms and corn husks, to address cultural and social issues. The lecture will be followed by a conversation with MICA President Samuel Hoi.
