As you might have heard:
"A theatre thing of some sorts is in the works on Howard street that a bunch of people are involved in that will be huge and will include, like, studios or a cafe or a bookstore and a bunch of theatres or something and I think it will be opening next month or next year or in five years and it's called, uh, actually I don't know what it's called."
Russian-born and Israeli-raised guitarist Yuri Liberzon ranks among today’s foremost classical guitarists in the United States and the world. His playing has been described as “Transcendent technical prowess at the service of gracious musicality. He is a natural born guitarist”. Washington D.C. Guitar Society wrote: “Mr. Liberzon was terrific. World-class mental acrobatics. Very pleasing results.”
One of the Washington, DC area's top honky-tonk groups, Karen Collins & the Backroads Band play real country music. Their original shuffles, two-steps, and buckle-polishing slow tunes project an authentic vintage sound. The twang continues with a list of covers that range from Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb, to Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, with dashes of Bob Wills and Chuck Berry thrown in.
Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Chris Brown recently made his sixth #1 album entry on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart with his latest release X (RCAS Records). The album also debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top Albums chart, marking his sixth album debut within the Top Ten. X sold over 140,000 units in its first week while Spotify streams of the album continue to rise.
If you like music with a cinematic flair, this is the concert for you! Catholic University Composer Andrew Earle Simpson will be on hand as we give the world premiere of the work we commissioned from him: a score for the 1920 silent film, One Week, starring Buster Keaton. Rossini and Mussorgsky offer two vivid musical stories, while Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite takes us on a journey through America’s most picturesque landscape.

The Collective Dance Company offers bi-weekly modern classes that are open to the public and geared toward the intermediate/advanced level dancer. Sunday morning classes are taught by a rotating schedule of guest teachers. Tuesday evening classes are taught by a rotating schedule of Collective members. Classes are primarily offered in modern/contemporary dance. The first Tuesday of every month, a speciality class is offered in a different style or genre of dance. AmiciMusic (www.amicimusic.org) presents this intimate House Concert featuring great Romantic cello/piano music by Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Schumann. Cellist Ina-Esther Joost Ben-Sasson comes from Israel, where she was formerly the Principal Cellist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. She will join pianist and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser in this afternoon of beautiful music in a grand home in the Guilford area of Baltimore. This is Chamber Music the way it was meant to be heard----in a true chamber!

EMP Resident artists Noelle Tolbert, Alexander D’Agostino, and Porter Witsell form NAP, a performance trio investigating the intersections of dance, body movement, and performance art. Every Sunday, NAP will conduct open classes of Movement Research at EMP from 5:30 – 7:30PM. Classes are $5 each.
