Baltimore Annex Theater closes their 2016-17 season with The King of Howard St., an original play about the lives, dreams and deprivations of the formerly homeless writer, Housing Rights Advocate Anthony Williams. Adapted from the writer’s journals by company member Ren Pepitone, this will be the first theater production in the multi-use community hub Le Mondo, an artist-owned and operated space that Annex will soon be calling home.
In the current social and political climate, when our country is constantly in flux, what is it that makes us “American”? Is it our class? Our jobs? Our educational statuses? Is it the way we look? Who we love or worship? How we live our day-to-day lives? Or is it none of these things at all? In Where I Lie, The Oven Theatre Company explores how these questions influence the way we socialize through an in depth look into the lives of five Americans.

Alex Davis’s love for diverse genres of music is infectious. His bands, Passing Worth (indie/jazz/soul/pop), Miles to Go (prog/pop-rock) and solo Music of Alex Davis performance are tied together by his classically trained voice and love of the keyboard. With a Bachelor's of Music Composition from The University of South Carolina, Alex integrates fundamental and familiar musical beauty into a richly matured and original sound. His poetry reflects on life’s compelling truths, so often found within honest inconsistency.

Second annual Baltimore Podcast Festival returns May 19-20
To hear some of Baltimore’s best podcasts on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20, you can ditch your headphones — they’re live and in person at the Baltimore Podcast Festival!
“Last year was a fantastic proof-of-concept for the idea of a podcast festival here in Baltimore, and I’m thrilled that we’ve grown into a second day,” said Tripp Laino, the festival’s founder. “We’ve gone from three shows recording episodes to 10, and I’m really excited to hear these new shows.”
On Friday, May 19 at 7:30 PM, the Justice & Peace Immigration Subcommittee will present "God Grew Tired of Us", a 2006 documentary about three of the ‘Lost Boys of Sudan’. It chronicles the arduous journey of John Bul Dau, Daniel Pach and Panther Bior from their native Sudan to Ethiopia and eventually to the US. As young boys in the 1980s, they had walked a thousand miles to escape their war-ridden homeland, and then had to make another arduous journey to escape Ethiopia. As they walked in search of safety, thousands died from starvation, dehydration, bomb raids and genocidal murder.
