Summer 1967. The counterculture made its way west to the dock of the bay. Rock ‘n’ roll peaked as an art form, major musical statements like Sgt. Pepper were made, while the "summer of love" brought tie-dye and a new way of thinking to the masses.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this magical time and place, Baltimore’s cosmic rock ‘n’ rollers Fractal Cat join a host of special guests for an entire set of songs from 1967 to celebrate big hits and obscure nuggets from the British Invasion to Motown to Haight-Ashbury.

Flashlight is a new, fun, socially conscious, music festival to benefit the homeless in the Baltimore area. Flashlight offers attendees an opportunity to spend a summer night enjoying music, food and fun while supporting the more than 3,500 individuals and families who struggle with the terrifying feeling of not knowing where they will sleep, what they will eat, and if they will be safe every day, and night.

Ladew Gardens’ annual Summer Concert Series. Enjoy a fun-filled summer evening groovin' to the music of some of Baltimore's most popular bands in a glorious garden setting! Picnics, blankets, and chairs are welcome, but please no pets, alcohol or athletic equipment. Food and refreshments, including alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Concerts continue each Sunday night through August 6th.

Chamber Music on the Hill presents “Music for a Summer Night,” featuring Colin Sorgi, violin and viola, David Smith, horn and Choo Choo Hu, piano. The trio will perform Franz Schubert’s Rondo in B Minor for Violin and Piano, D. 895; Sergei Prokofiev’s (arr. Vadim Borisovsky) Romeo and Juliet - Suite for Viola and Piano; Aaron Copland’s Two Pieces for Violin and Piano (1926); and finish the concert with Johannes Brahms’ mighty Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 40.
Hailed by the NY Times as “intense, prowling, and ebullient,” the Shakes are led by frontman, singer, ring leader, and musical conjurer Michael Mwenso. Informed by classic jazz big bands, early James Brown & The Famous Flames. Cab Calloway and a slew of other African American musical legends, the Shakes pack vicious jazz and blues punch.
Through the endless optimism of the 20s and the deep depression of the 30’s, George and Ira Gershwin’s songs captivated America, dominating Hollywood and Broadway. Dr. Steve Glasser treats us to his beautiful renditions of Gershwin gems and thought-provoking anecdotes. He is accompanied by Dr. Frederick Minger on the Baby Grand.
Brazilian vocalist Rose Moraes has introduced thousands of music lovers to Brazilian music through performances in Switzerland, Poland, Brazil and the U.S. In this concert, Moraes joins forces with Brazilian bassist Leonardo Lucini, percussionist Lucas Ashby, and pianist Didier Prossaird. The group gives an insider’s look on Brazilian jazz from the perspective of samba-canção and bossa nova fusion with Jobim nuances.
Brazilian vocalist Rose Moraes has introduced thousands of music lovers to Brazilian music through performances in Switzerland, Poland, Brazil and the U.S., where she now resides. She has performed at Zinc Bar and The Iridium in New York City, for Artscape and the yearly sold out Carnival concerts at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, and in countless Washington, D.C. venues and festivals such as D.C. Jazz Festival and Adams Morgan Day. With two albums to her credit, she has collaborated on many musical projects with many Brazilian stars.
