Artists who live, work, or study in Howard County, Maryland are the focus of Art Howard County 2017, a biennial, juried exhibit featuring work in a variety of media. This year’s guest juror is Thomas Engleman, Gallery Director and Professor of Visual Arts at Howard Community College, who will offer remarks and present juror awards at a free reception on November 10 from 6–8pm.
Reality proves a fertile playground for the imaginations of the artists showcased in Chroma. Sabine Carlson’s colorful oil paintings depict fragmented figurative imagery in abstracted landscapes, while Robert Mathews creates unsettling portraits of his ‘imaginary friends.’ A free reception on November 10 from 6-8pm is open to the public and will include light refreshments.
The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses is returning in 2017 with an updated orchestral adventure. The show will feature an all new movement from Skyward Sword, a much-anticipated Breath of the Wildarrangement, and the return of a classic that might just make some wishes come true!
In conjunction with Jim Condron's exhibit, Picking Up the Pieces, Ann Landi, NY art critic, will join us via Skype. We hope not only to talk about Jim’s work but also talk about what’s happening in art and what’s happening in the Baltimore art scene. Landi was previously an editor at ARTNews and wrote for the Huffington Post and The Wall Street Journal. She now runs the website Vasari21, which is for artists and about artists. She is a great supporter of artists and would love to answer your questions.
