Join Lexington Market and local Merchants for the Third Annual Trick or Treat in the Market. The nearly century-old tradition of Trick or Treating will be brought inside Lexington Market from 2 to 4 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017. The family-friendly event features live music, pumpkin decorating, cooking demos, samples and, of course, trick or treating throughout the Market. The event is free and open to all.
Come prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse at Terrapin Adventures. Every year, the National Aquarium takes its favorite Halloween tradition underwater. This October 31st, Aquarium divers will take a plunge in the Blacktip Reef exhibit and carve pumpkins underwater. Divers will host two underwater pumpkin-carving sessions. Carvings will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The underwater pumpkin carving is included with the price of admission.
Dress up in your favorite scary, funny or crazy DIY costume and head on over to the Annual Hampden HalloweenFest taking place from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, October 31 on "The Avenue" (36th Street). The event, sponsored by the merchants of historic Hampden, was created to encourage handmade artistry and creativity in Halloween costume design across all ages. Costumed children and adults are encouraged to go shop-to-shop for Trick-or-Treating from 5-6 p.m. with participating merchants along 36th Street, northward up Falls Road, and southward down Chestnut Avenue.

Dr. Richard Alley will present “As the Tide Rises: Decades of Watching Ice Sheets Change.” Dr. Alley is an Evan Paugh University professor of geosciences at Penn State. He studies the great ice sheets to help predict future changes in climate and sea level, and has conducted field research in Antarctica, Greenland and Alaska. Dr. Alley participated in the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and is a co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Fest. The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the musician. It
was patented in 1928 by Leon Theremin a Soviet inventor. Theremins have been used in many movie and TV
soundtracks, and professional thereminists still perform in concerts today! In this workshop, we will solder
together our very own theremins!
