Kicking off a month of jazz organ, Greg Hatza is a local master who lays down a seriously thick organ groove.
A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, now residing locally, Greg Hatza’s musical instincts came to him as early and as naturally as the ability to walk. Before he took formal lessons, he was 4-years-old when he started picking out blues and boogie woogie tunes on the piano. The Hammond B-3 became his life’s obsession as a teenager, when a friend turned him on to records by Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Ray Charles, and Johnny Hammond Smith

Culture is reggae’s preeminent harmony group. Born in the ‘70s golden age of reggae, Culture’s legendary “Two Sevens Clash” was Reggae Album of the Year in 1977 and is acknowledged today by Rolling Stone Magazine as #25 of the 50 all time coolest records (the only reggae album to make the list).
A lot of people say they'll work until they drop. Quincy Jones is doing it.
The stand-up comic (no relation to the music mogul who has the same name) was told over a year ago that he only had one year to live. He was doing gigs nightly, but the diagnosis forced him to double-down on his craft. Jones subsequently appeared on the Ellen Degeneres’ Show, who began to advocate for him to get a comedy special. HBO came on board and this past year they debuted Quincy Jones: Burning the Light, a hilarious and inspirational hour long special.
Super funky and deeply soulful, Dr. Lonnie Smith, a 2017 NEA Jazz Master, is an authentic virtuoso of the Hammond B-3 organ. For more than five decades, he has been featured on over seventy albums and has recorded and performed with a virtual “Who’s Who” of the greatest jazz, blues and R&B giants in the industry. Jazz Times magazine describes him as “a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a turban!” Tonight, it is an honor to host an American musical legend with his trio in the intimate Patterson theater. Tickets are limited. Each show will be 75 minutes in length.
