On Tuesday Sept. 27, WTMD is thrilled to host Dan Deacon, Shodekeh, Wendel Patrick, Melissa Wimbish, Brooks Long, Edwin Perez and others for Embody, a celebration of the human voice.
There is no other show in Baltimore like Embody. It strips away other instruments to push the boundaries of the human voice.

Vignola and Raniolo honor the music and style of Django Reinhardt, the Gypsy guitar genius who, with violinist Stephane Grappelli, formed the core of the legendary Hot Club of France Quintet in the 1930s and 40s.

Nashville-based Forlorn Strangers, which has taken the music world by storm. They are a truly gifted and passionate Americana, bluegrass quintet, that combines impeccable musicianship, soul-stirring harmonies, and brilliant songwriting. They’ve just released their first full-length album, produced by the legendary Phil Madeira (who’s produced Alison Kraus, Emmylou, Harris, Steve Earle, Keb Mo’, and the Wood Bros., to name a few). Bel Air's own Hannah and Abigail Dempsey co-founded the group. Come celebrate their homecoming and record release with us. You do not want to miss it, we promise.
Known widely as Duo Violão Brasil, guitarists Rogério Souza and Edinho Gerber explore and expand on the musical possibilities of playing two guitars (violões) together. With repertoire from composers like Pixinguinha, Baden Powell, and Tom Jobim, they effortlessly navigate through many styles of 20th century Brazilian popular music while showcasing original works and inventive arrangements. The program includes unique interpretations of well-known jazz and Brazilian compositions in a variety of styles such as Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro, and Baiao as well as original compositions.
Back to Howard Community College by popular demand! The U.S. Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble will perform a diverse mix of traditional big band favorites and cutting edge original music.

Songwriter and guitarist Paul Margolis and accordionist John Shock have been playing music together for almost 30 years. Starting with Shock’s band Two Legs, then The Polkats, and now with The Stone Hill All-Stars, they have been at the helm of some of the best roots-rock bands in Baltimore. Their blend of cajun-flavored polka lies somewhere between Ry Cooder, Los Lobos, and The Pogues—plus polka. They swashbuckled through a dozen different kinds of traditional music all while retaining a distinct Baltimore flavor.

Crickets is a fun, play-based music and movement class for children ages 4 to 6. Trained teachers engage the body and the mind in joyful music-making through musical games and movement. Baltimore Rhythm Festival Brings Together World Renowned Artists and Local Talent in a Celebration Of Community, Music, Voice, and Dance.
Midtown Baltimore will be abuzz Oct. 1st with an afternoon of free stage performances, workshops, drum circles, community groups and vendors. The day culminates with a ticketed Evening Concert celebrating the deeply rooted and contemporary African American heritage of uplifting and socially conscious performance.
Baltimore's first-ever jazz fest featuring all Baltimore-based jazz artists, performing in a range of genres, including straight-ahead jazz, gypsy jazz, Latin jazz, funk/fusion jazz, big-band, and contemporary ("smooth") jazz. The event is free and family-friendly with free parking. Bring your own chairs. There will be food and beverage vendors and merchandise vendors. There will be a musical “petting zoo” where youngsters can try out real jazz instruments. Located adjacent to the H.P. Rawlings Conservatory at Gwynns Falls Parkway and Beechwood Driv.
Annapolis-based act Kings of Crownsville are a roots Rock band with a New Orleans flavor. The brainchild of New Orleans-raised guitarist/singer/songwriterSteve Johnson, the Kings play a rollicking, entertaining set that stirs Americana, Blues, and Jazz into the mix.
Their signature horn section transports listeners to the streets of the Big Easy, while they also add precise three- and four-part harmonies to their musical gumbo. Think Louis Armstrong meets Steely Dan.
Zodiac Trio consisting of American clarinetist Kliment Krylovskiy, Violinist Vanessa Mollard, and versatile musician, Riko Higuma, will perform for Candlelight’s new season and the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah (October 3), this performance will be dedicated to the musical spirit and soul of Eastern Europe, with a Klezmer-inspired program exploring the depths of human sentiment through the lens of music.
