Classical Music's Asian Revolution
In the late 1800s, exactly when the Romantic Period was roiling with emotion, the Western world was shaken up by the revolutionary Paris Exhibition. There, artists were amazed and moved by the great art of the East. Forever changed were the lives of composers like Debussy and Ravel; and they were inspired to follow a brand new mode of expression. In this recital, you will hear both sides of this revolution: great music of Asia, and the Western music it influenced.
