Brandon Woody is a trumpeter from Charm City. Brandon currently is a senior at Baltimore School for the Arts. It all started for him in 3rd grade when he had the opportunity to study with his first mentor, Craig Alston. He has attended the Berklee Jazz Workshop, Grammy Camp, Jazz Band of America. He has studied, performed or played with Gary Thomas, Sean Jones , Terri Lyne Carrington, Alex Norris, Dontae Winslow, Andrew Balio, Paul Carr, Ian Sims, Blake Meister, Craig Alston, Warren Wolf and many more. He says "Even though I want to make a living off of jazz, I still love all types of music, especially classical." He was won the Concerto Competition at Peabody, and is in several orchestras, chamber, wind ensembles. Woody has performed in renowned venues with his own group such as Bohemian Caverns, Twins Jazz, Kimmel Center, the Meyerhoff, Marthas Vineyard Jazz and Blues Fest and Jazz at Lincoln Center multiple times. He was just selected as a 2016 Young Arts Finalist in Jazz, also to Baltimore Sun's "Baltimore's Rising Artist". Brandon Woody will be attending the Brubeck Institute to be a part of the renowned Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet in California in the fall on a full scholarship.
