---------------------------------------

True Laurels is a print magazine dedicated to highlighting the most captivating and untapped artists within Baltimore City’s visual arts and music scenes while still surveying the international playing field to feature rising global stars alongside Baltimore's brightest.

Started as a blog in late 2011 and becoming a physical publication in 2013, True Laurels was created by Baltimore City native and journalist Lawrence Burney (published in Complex Magazine, XXL, The Fader, Pitchfork, VICE) to highlight the widely untapped creative scene in Baltimore. Whether it be talking to street rappers like YGG Tay, featuring photographers like Geneviève Mame Kodou Dieng, covering events by all-female arts collective Balti Gurls or featuring international artists like South Africa's Petite Noir, True Laurels has aimed to create a one-stop destination for those interested in what Baltimore has to offer in context of the global vantage point through feature stories, candid artist diaries, photography and interviews.
