This workshop will give teens a simple introduction to working with metal to make jewelry. The class will begin with learning to use the rolling mill and patterned brass and other surprisingly available materials to press patterns into a sheet of metal to make the raw material for the project. Then participants will use a disc cutter to make various shapes starting with a circle and finally assemble their finished piece. Participants can personalize the pieces even further using simple chasing techniques, initials, a meaningful word or phrase, a lucky number, significant date or patina to color the metal.
