Cuttlefish Casting

Cuttlefish Casting

Cuttlefish casting is a casting method that allows a participant of any skill level to participate in the metal casting process with immediate and exciting results. The bone of a cuttlefish, a type of cephalopod like a squid, is carved to create a mold. Molten metal is then poured into the cuttlefish mold resulting in a metal replica of the carving. After carving and casting, workshop participants will learn how to finish the cast metal and will leave the workshop with a finished object or piece of jewelry. No experience necessary.
