In this workshop we will cover the use of porcelain slip casting in the context of jewelry making. Topics will include discussion of suitable objects for making rigid molds, making a clay base including keys, funnel, and mold resist, creating the mold container and pouring a two-part plaster mold. We will practice casting porcelain in existing plaster molds and working with dried unfired porcelain. Students will complete their own plaster molds and cast porcelain parts that are ready to be kiln fired in the studio. No experience necessary.
