IRON CROW THEATRE IS ONE OF BALTIMORE'S MOST DYNAMIC AND FASTEST GROWING THEATRE COMPANIES.
It's Baltimore's only queer theatre and it's unlike any other theatre you've been apart of. You’ll be challenged and inspired, recognized and fulfilled. Overall, you’ll be proud. Because however you get involved here, you’ll be part of something big. Join us as we look to broaden our impact with our 16/17 season.

16/17 SEASON OF DARK PLAY AUDITIONS

IRON CROW THEATRE:
Baltimore's only professional queer theatre. Producing queer theatre for a queer city. Sean Elias, Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer; Heather Peacock, Director of Production; Ann Turiano, Director of Education & Literature; Jeanette Wooten, Public Relations Manager & Outreach Coordinator.

SEEKING:
Non-equity professional actors and actor/singer/dancers of all ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations and expressions for various roles in Iron Crow Theater's upcoming 16/17 season titled, The Season of Dark Play. Non-Traditional casting, drag performance and gender-flexible casting strategies may be employed. Season includes:

The Wild Party, by Andrew Lippa
Rehearsals begin August 19, 2016 / Runs September 30 - October 9, 2016

The Rocky Horror Show, by Richard O'Brien
Rehearsals begin October 7, 2016 / Runs last week in October 2016. Specific Dates TBA.

The Zero Hour by Madeline George
Rehearsals begin October 28, 2016 / Runs December 2 - December 4, 2016

Fucking A, by Suzan-Lori Parks
Rehearsals begin January 6, 2017 / Runs February 3 - February 12, 2017

Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them, by A. Rey Pamatmat
Rehearsals begin March 10, 2017 / Runs March 31 - April 2, 2017

Booty Candy by Robert O'Hara
Rehearsals begin May 12, 2017 / Runs June 9 - June 18, 2017

REHEARSALS:
Season rehearses and runs in Baltimore, MD and/or Towson, MD. Housing is not provided by the theatre. Local actors are preferred. Travel stipends not available.

COMPENSATION:
Small stipend provided based on role.

AUDITION DATES:
April 18th by appointment at Baltimore Theatre Project. Those without an appointment will be seen as time permits. We will make every effort to see all actors who attend the audition. Callbacks will be held by invitation only at a later date TBA. For an appointment and consideration please email [email protected] and include the role(s) in which you are interested in. Please include your headshot and resume.

AUDITION & SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
A monitor will be provided. Please Prepare either: a brief song in the style of the show(s) you are interested in; or a brief contemporary monologue; or a one-minute contemporary monologue and 32 bars of a song. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist will be provided. Bring picture & resumes, stapled together.

BREAKDOWN
Seeking the following roles.

The Wild Party / Seeking:

BLACK:
Strong, handsome, and poised without being posed. An enigmatic loner. Protective. No-nonsense kind of guy who cannot understand Queenie's attraction to Burrs. African-American Vocal range: F3 - G5.

BURRS:
Handsome. A professional clown. Dangerous and charming all at once. Sexually ravenous and drawn to Queenie like a moth to the flame. Hurts somewhere deep inside, and slowly descends into jealous insanity. Vocal range G3 - A5.

DOLORES:
A party-goer pitching ideas and hoping to score with Sam. A wild woman of the night. Vocal range: A3 - A5

EDDIE:
Mae's husband who is perhaps even more dim-witted than she is. A big oaf. Can be a lovable teddy bear but also a quick tempered brute. Adores his wife. Vocal range: A3 - A5.

KATE:
A lush. Likes to be the "life of the party." Always looking out for number one, and is jealous of Queenie. Sexy, sensual, and confident. Vocal range: F3 - E5.

MADELAINE TRUE:
A tired woman with slanted eyes and a cruel mouth. An announced lesbian. Sexually hungry. Blunt and very dry. Vocal range: A3 - E5.

MAE:
Eddie's wife. Sweet and beautiful, but not particularly bright. Adores her husband and dotes on him. Vocal range: A3 - D5.

SAM:
Busy producer and "attention whore." Trying to avoid the outrageous pitches made by Dolores, until it becomes sexual. Vocal range: A3 - A5.

OSCAR D'ARMANO:
Phil's brother and lover who dresses as his twin. A composer and an entertainer in every sense of the word. Very flamboyant. Vocal range: A3 - B5.

PHIL D'ARMANO:
Oscar's brother and lover who dresses as his twin. A composer and an entertainer in every sense of the word. Very flamboyant. Vocal range: A3 - A5.

QUEENIE:
Blonde and beautiful. Sexy. Looks a little older and more tired than her age would indicate. Afraid of being alone. Has become addicted to Burrs' presence and ravenous sexual appetite. Vocal range: F3 - F5.

NADINE:
The only minor at the party. Waifish and somewhat naïve. She is in over her head and trying to keep up. Vocal range: A3 - A5.

MAX
One of the party goers and a member of the usual "gang." He is full of life and energy. Vocal range: A3 - B5.

ENSEMBLE
Various actors and actresses of multiple ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender expressions to comprise the ensemble of party guests. Must be comfortable with partial or full nudity.
The Rocky Horror Show / Seeking:

USHERETTE/MAGENTA:
One of Frank’s servants. Vocal Range: Bb3 - Eb5.

BRAD:
Quirky, but very much in love with his fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times. Vocal Range: Bb2 - G4.

JANET:
Good girl who is madly in love with Brad. Always seems to be frightened of something. Keeps losing more of her clothes throughout the story. Emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily. Vocal Range: A3 - Eb5.

NARRATOR: (Non-Singing Role)
Follows our two hero’s through the story by narrating directly to the audience.

RIFF RAFF:
Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants. Vocal Range: D3 - B4.

COLUMBIA:
One of Frank’s servants. Vocal Range: E4 - E5

FRANK 'N' FURTER:
Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction. Vocal Range: D3 - G4.

ROCKY:
Frank’s magnificent creation. Sexually appealing with prominent muscles. Vocal Range: A3 - G4.

EDDIE/DR. SCOTT:
Eddie, delivery man, “went to pieces.” Misses the rock and role of life. Comes back to life only to die after his solo. Scott is Eddie’s Uncle. Vocal Range: E3 - F#4.

4 PHANTOMS / TRANSILVANIANS:
Various actors and actresses of multiple ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender expressions to comprise the ensemble. Must be comfortable with partial or full nudity.
The Zero Hour / Seeking:

O:
Butch dyke, intense, unemployed, recovering. Also plays WASP, THE THERAPIST, THE LONELY NAZI, THE EAGER NAZI, THE TENDER NAZI

REBECCA
Corporate femme, educated, graceful, Jewish. Also Plays RAE WILCOX (O’s mother), LILY HIRSCHORN (REBECCA’s mother)

THE ALL-AMERICAN NAZI:
Also known as, “DOUG.”
Fucking A / Seeking:

HESTER SMITH:
The abortion provider and main character. Her son has been sent to jail by the First lady.

CANARY MARY:
A friend of Hesters and a "kept woman", a prostitute.

THE MAYOR:
Leader of a small piece of land. Cheats on his wife with Canary Mary.

THE FIRST LADY:
The Mayor’s wife. She is unable to bear children which really bothers the Mayor. She sent Hester’s son to jail.

BUTCHER:
A local Butcher who falls in love with Hester.

MONSTER:
Escaped convict turns out to be Hester’s son. Real name is Boy Smith.

FREEDOM FUND LADY:
Collects money from Hester for the picnic bail.

SCRIBE:
He writes beautifully, and Hester goes to him so he can write a letter to her son for her.

3 HUNTERS:
All three OF them are bent on catching Monster for a money prize and also so they can torture him.

JAILBAIT:
He is mistaken for Hester’s son and he’s the one who actually has the dream picnics with Hester.

GUARD:
Brings Jailbait to Hester.

WAITING WOMAN 1 & 2:
Two women waiting to abort their child.

3 PRISONERS:
They sing a song during the play.

Please Note:
Fucking A includes brief sardonic songs in the style of Kurt Weill such as "Working Woman's Song" and "My Little Army." All actors should be comfortable with singing and able to match pitch, though vocal training is not required.
Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them / Seeking:

EDITH:
12 year old little girl who is tougher and more aware than she should be for her age. Kenny's sister. Author requires that actress must be of some form of asian decent.

KENNY:
16 year old "man of the house". Falls in love with Benji. Edith's brother. Author requires the actor to be of some form of asian decent.

BENJI:
16 year old young boy newly discovering his homosexuality. A friend of Kenny's. Any race.

Please Note:
This play will be performed by young-looking adult actors, not actual teenagers as requested by the author.

Black Woman. Plays: EUDARRIE, LUCY, WRITER 2, MIDDLE AGED MOTHER, GENITALIA.

ACTOR 4:
Black Man. Plays: REVERED BENSON, WRITER 3, STEP FATHER, LARRY, OLD GRANNY.

ACTOR 5:
White Male. Plays: ROY, CLINT, MODERATOR, OFFICIANT, WHITE MAN.
