CURATED BY DWELAA
Dwelaa is an arts collective founded in 2015 based in Baltimore and formed by mixed media artists Theresa Chromati and Janjay Matthews. The two founders originally met during their years in undergrad where they began to share and incorporate their beliefs on mixed media collage with inspiration through Janjays Liberian heritage and use of vibrant textile, and blind contour, and Theresa’s use of digital and anologue stylized figures inspired by body language she discovered while growing up in Baltimore. Together, these women have combined layers of innovative information to create an united aesthetic, Dwelaa. Dwelaa’s main focus is curating events that gather a community of forward thinking creative’s from Baltimore, and surrounding cities, to encourage integration of art forms and philosophies by curating artists talks, workshops, and a variety of other creative outlets to encourage growth and collaboration within communities in Baltimore.
