Fairies of the Fields: An Intimate Look at the Life of Meadows

Fairies of the Fields: An Intimate Look at the Life of Meadows

Fairies of the Fields: Triptych

Artist Rose Anderson combines three summers of local butterfly and bird photography into magical Photoshop illustrations in old Victorian frames. The exhibit, showing from March 16th to May 9th, invites viewers to experience the insects and birds of Maryland's wild field habitats as storybook characters and antique portraits. Young and old alike can enjoy a fun interactive game to hunt for details in the artwork.

The nostalgic effects aim to inspire viewers to help preserve the fragile worlds of real fairies before they become faded memories. There will be an information board celebrating recent progress in wild field management thanks to a new cooperation between environmnentally conscious citizens and Baltimore County Rec and Parks.

Rose Anderson is known for hanging around local parks with her camera, kneeling or lying on the ground to capture nature from a childlike point of view. Frequent visitors to Cromwell Valley Park, Cylburn Arboretum, and Hydes Road Park will easily recognize landmarks in the backgrounds of her work.Anderson often says she'll never need to travel anywhere else when all of these of these fascinating creatures live right here in Maryland.
