"Robert Schumann - Genius and Madness” with Paul Mazeroff and David Kreider

The McDaniel College Department of Music will present "Robert Schumann - Genius and Madness” on Wednesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. The performance, featuring Paul Mazeroff of McDaniel’s psychology department and David Kreider of McDaniel’s music department, will take place in McDaniel Lounge. (Snow date - February 17, same time and place).

The presentation will explore the great 19th century composer Robert Schumann who suffered with what is today considered bi-polar disorder. While coping with this illness, Schumann managed to create some of the greatest chamber, symphonic, and piano music of all time.

David Kreider, director of Keyboard Studies at McDaniel College, is the founder and artistic director of Chamber Music On The Hill. Over the past twenty-five years, he has appeared as pianist with many different chamber ensembles. His solo recitals have included performances at Wigmore Hall (London), the Musikverein (Vienna), and Carnegie Recital Hall (New York).

Dr. Paul Mazeroff is a licensed psychologist and counselor whose interests in psychopharmacology, stress, and psychopathology extend into his research with students on the effects of music on emotion, the application of psychology to the humanities and Jungian psychology.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 410-857-2599.
