Opera soprano Leah Crocetto and pianist Mark Markham in concert - The Spire Series

Hear acclaimed soprano Leah Crocetto in concert with pianist Mark Markham, on the same tour that will include Ms. Crocetto’s premiere performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and her appearance at the Metropolitan Opera debut as Liù in Turandot! The program will include works by Verdi, Strauss, Duparc, and the Baltimore premiere of a piece by Gregory Peebles, written especially for Crocetto & Markham.

Recognized as a rising star in the next generation of singers, Ms. Crocetto represented the US at the 2011 Cardiff BBC Singer of the World Competition, where she was a finalist in the Song portion; she is also a 2010 Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Since 1995, Mr. Markham has been the recital partner of Jessye Norman, giving nearly 300 performances in over 25 countries; he has presented classes for pianists and singers throughout the US, Europe and Asia, and has been a guest lecturer for the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

“After her phenomenal appearance in Stern Grove with the San Francisco Opera, Crocetto has revealed herself as a major operatic star… a flood of gorgeous, well-supported sound shaped into majestic and seemingly effortless phrases…” San Francisco Chronicle, August 21, 2012

Leah Crocetto is represented by Columbia Artists Management Inc.

A meet-the-artists reception will follow the concert.
