Mapping the West, a photography exhibitoin by Vince Lupo

FULL CIRCLE GALLERY, is pleased to host a solo exhibition by local photographer, Vince Lupo. His B&W
photographs from New Mexico, Montana, and beyond, which seek to illustrate his personal imagination of
the mythological “West” are on display from October 10-November 21, 2015

Vince Lupo is originally from Toronto, Ontario and has been involved in photography since he was 12 yearsold.
He has a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in photography from Ryerson Polytechnic University in
Toronto, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in
Savannah, GA. In 1997, Vince founded his own commercial photography firm, Direction One, Inc., based in
Linthicum, MD.

The images in Mapping the West, trace a personal journey of discovering what ‘Spirit of the West’ means.
At times it is a beautiful vastness. At other times there is evidence of a fading past- unknown and forgotten,
yet appearing more authentic than the present. Religious symbols in the grand landscape serve as
reminders of an adherence to tradition – but not without visible conflict. There is also the independent
attitude of the people, which echoes the mythical sentiments of the 19th century settlers. The imagery in this
exhibit illustrates a journey of personal renewal in the landscapes and back-roads of New Mexico, Montana,
and other Western US regions. It is within this personal experience that the ephemeral “Spirt” of West is felt.
