On Sunday, November 29th Sotto Sopra Restaurant, known for its Northern Italian cuisine in Baltimore for over 19 years, is hosting Italian-born guitarist Flavio Sala who will perform an intimate concert for the restaurant’s dining guests. Guests can purchase their Flavio Sala concert tickets ($20) separately at his website http://ow.ly/TQwuD

In 2015 Baltimore City Paper awarded Sotto Sopra Restaurant the title “Top Italian Restaurant in Baltimore.” It seems apropos that the best Italian restaurant host the acclaimed Italian born guitarist Flavio Sala for a ‘one night only’ concert.

Flavio Sala’s inspirations have been the music of Alirio Diaz, Steve Howe and Paco de Lucia. He began his career at the age of 18, winning the XXVI International Competition of Guitar Interpretation of Gargnano (Brescia) and subsequently the XXXVI International Competition "Michele Pittaluga" Alessandria, the Audience Vote at San Francisco International Master Guitar Competition (2004), the 1st prize at the Concurso Internacional de Guitarra XIV "Alirio Diaz" of Carora (Lara State, Venezuela – 2006), obtaining also the Special Prize Fundacion Vicente Emilio Sojo in Caracas, "a la mejor Interpretación de musica Venezolana" and prize winner at the VII Alexandre Tansman International Competition for Musical Personalities in Lodz ( Poland, 2008).

"I love to see a 30 year-old guitarist knock my socks off!" - STEVE HOWE guitarist in the rock group Yes

"Flavio Sala is the new Paganini of the guitar" - ALIRIO DIAZ – Venezuelan classic guitarist

From classical to pop, flamenco to jazz, Flavio’s fingers are magic dancers over the strings of his Camillo Perrella’s custom made guitar. “I can say that the guitar I play has been made for my hands, to cover all my needs for when I am on the stage.” – Flavio says – “I just love Inna, which is my guitar’s name. But Camillo has already a new instrument waiting for me in his workshop, which is a new concept, with cutaway. This is a little bit strange for a classical guitar player, but, you know, I am a rule-hater. I just know that Jennifer, my new guitar, sounds beautiful and I can’t wait to have it in my arms.”

"One of the key players in today’s modern guitar scene" - MICHEL CAMILO Grammy Award-Winning jazz pianist

"Flavio Sala has a great technique" - PACO DE LUCIA – Spanish virtuoso flamenco guitarist

Sotto Sopra Restaurant will be a different venue for Flavio’s concert, very intimate as opposed to the prestigious theaters and concert halls where he has played throughout Europe, Russia, South America, and the United States: Tchaikovsky concert Hall in Moscow, Alirio Diaz theatre in Venezuela, Hall of Vienna, Turin Philharmonic and more.

Sotto Sopra Restaurant’s home is in a 19th century town home with mosaic tile floors, high ceilings, billowing drapes, gilded mirrors and their trademark mural. The atmosphere is metropolitan; one might think they are dining in New York, London, or Milan. Sotto Sopra takes one’s taste buds on a memorable trip with Northern Italian fare with a salute to the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay. The cosmopolitan feel is extended with gracious, attentive service that is never intrusive or stuffy.
