The Bruk-Hoffmann Piano Duo

Featuring pianists Karina Bruk and Paul Hoffmann, the Bruk-Hoffmann Piano Duo will explore repertoire arranged for two pianos inspired by the star-crossed lovers, including:

• Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasia by Tchaikovsky (arranged by Karl Klindworth)
• Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64, by Sergei Prokofiev (arranged by Paul Hoffmann)
• Symphonic Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein (with percussionist Tom Goldstein) (arranged by John Musto)

The Bruk-Hoffmann Duo has performed two-piano concerts since 2005 in the United States and abroad, and performs annually at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.The Duo performs annually at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Their most recent international appearances have been at the World Piano Conferences in 2014, 2011 and 2009 in Novi Sad, Serbia; at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria in 2012; and at the Händel Hause for the 2012 EuroArts Festival in Halle, Germany. They both have been appointed judges for the annual International Piano Competition of the World Piano Teachers Association.

At Rutgers University, Karina Bruk is the graduate advisor/coordinator of graduate studies in music, and also serves as coordinator of chamber music and coordinator of Piano Lab at Mason Gross. She holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music (BM, MM) and Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University (DMA). She has performed solo, chamber music, and lecture recitals both in United States (Weill Recital Hall, Steinway Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, among others) and abroad.

Paul Hoffmann, pianist and conductor, made his debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus in 1973 while on a Fulbright grant to Austria, and has since concertized in the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. He is founder of HELIX! New Music Ensemble. In addition to his solo concerts and his work with Karina Bruk, he concertizes with Tom Goldstein, percussionist, in the Hoffmann/Goldstein Duo. Hoffmann has made more than 20 recordings of solo piano and chamber music for Innova, Capstone, Orion, CRI, Northeastern, Composers Guild of New Jersey, Contemporary Record Society, O.O. Discs, Spectrum, and Vienna Modern Masters labels and has made numerous radio broadcasts in the United States as well as for Voice of America, Radio Cologne, Radio Frankfurt, and Radio France.
