MARYLAND RYE: Straight from the Bottle
“Three drinks of rye whiskey would double the pleasure to be got out of Il Trovatore. Try it yourself.”
-H.L. Mencken
The Maryland State Archives, in collaboration with Case[werks], LLC is extending their exhibit about Maryland’s rye whiskey industry that thrived for centuries until the early 20th century. The exhibit features some of the really interesting – and funny – names, labels, and bottles that were features of the state’s distilleries, the last of which went out of business in the 1970s.
The artifacts on display are from the James H. Bready collection of Maryland rye whiskey bottles and ephemera. The exhibit is on display at the Gallery@Case[werks], located in the Station North Arts District at 1501 St Paul Street, Suite 116.
Exhibit Dates: Sept 3 – Dec 11, 2015
