Rithy Panh uses clay figures, archival footage and his narration to recreate the atrocities committed by Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1979. The film is critically acclaimed, having received top prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
