Fold-Forming

Fold-Forming

In this class, students will learn the process of fold-forming, a technique that explores the elasticity of metal. Fold-forming can be compared to origami in metal, as thin sheets of metal are repeatedly annealed, folded, forged, and unfolded to create three-dimensional forms. In comparision to other hammer based metal forming techniques, fold-forming can be spontaneous and have immediate results. This class is open to all levels and will assist students in understanding how metal moves. No experience necessary.
