DELETTA GILLESPIE IN "GOOD AND YUMMY"

DELETTA GILLESPIE IN "GOOD AND YUMMY"

Join the fabulous Deletta Gillespie for brunch as she performs her delightful cabaret, Good and Yummy about her love of all kinds of food...and being allergic to cooking. We promise lots of audience participation and silliness.

Deletta Gillespie is a teaching and performing artist with over twenty years in the entertainment industry. Gillespie was born into a show business family: both her parents played in bands that backed nationally known artists including entertainment legends The Ink Spots and The Shirelles. She made her professional debut at age six in her mother’s nightclub act.

Deletta has performed in a myriad of situations and venues as a singer, dancer and actor. Highlights include performing for Michael Jackson, and opening for Al Jarreau and Patti Austin. Her vocal talents encompass radio, television, and voice over work. Several of Gillespie’s plays have been produced both in the US and abroad. The Time Tunnel Review and Rufus’ Rhythm & Blues Revue were critically acclaimed and enjoyed successful runs overseas. What a Girl Wants (produced by Healing Stage Productions), raised over $15,000 for the Women's Resource Center in Bermuda. In October 2007, Atlanta-based theatre company Alternate Roots invited Gillespie to perform a staged reading of The Magic City Massacre during the Creative Convergence Festival. “The Magic City Massacre” premiered at Towson University in January of 2009, and enjoyed a second run at Morgan State University where she directed the piece.
