College Goal Maryland (Free Assistance with FAFSA and College Prep Workshops)

Need Help with the FAFSA? Need to Speak with a Financial Aid Counselor?

College Goal Maryland will be on-site SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2015, from 11am to 2pm, at Israel Baptist Church, 1220 North Chester Street.

Professional financial aid counselors will be available to help participants compete the FAFSA and answer any questions about financial aid for college, trade school, and other post-secondary education. (The FAFSA is required to receive any federal or state aid, including grants, scholarships, or loans...the priority deadline to complete the FAFSA for the state of Maryland is March 1)

In order to complete the FAFSA at the College Goal Maryland Program, you and your parents (if under 21) will need the following:

  • - Social Security number (can be found on Social Security card)
  • - Driver's license (if any)
  • - 2014 income tax return (if completed)
  • - 2014 W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
  • - 2014 untaxed income records - Social Security, Temporary
  • - Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, or veterans benefits records
  • - Your 2014 bank statements
  • - 2014 business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
  • - Your alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

In addition, two workshops will be conducted:

  • 11:30am to 12:20pm: Considerations for Living on Campus. If you (or your child) are planning to stay on campus, this session will provide tips and resources for making the transition for living on campus and to help determine if campus living is the best choice for you.
  • 12:30pm to 1:20pm: What to Expect in College and How to Prepare. Whether you're going to college directly from high school or if you are returning to school, college can be a different world! Learn various aspects of today's campus culture and mechanisms for success!
