Over the course of six years, filmmaker Genevieve Bailey traveled to 15 different countries talking to 11-year-olds in order to paint a truly global portrait of childhood. Why 11? Bailey explains that the film was conceived at a low time in her life when she yearned for the optimism of youth, specifically at 11, “when the world feels big, in a good way, and it was at our feet.”
