Chatham County Line with the Herd of Mainstreet

Chatham County Line with the Herd of Mainstreet

Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, Chatham County Line has a distinctively song-oriented urban bluegrass style. But perhaps the term bluegrass is far too limiting for this barnstorming acoustic ensemble that occupies their own corner of the roots music world by using bluegrass instrumentation combined with poignant, stirring vocals that at once conjure Gram Parsons and Dylan.

Formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1999, the band, Dave Wilson (guitar), John Teer (mandolin, fiddle),Chandler Holt (banjo), and Greg Readling (bass, pedal steel, piano) first met in 1996 when lead singer/songwriter Dave Wilson was living in the Blue House, an infamous Raleigh crash pad for the areas hottest young musicians. At the same time, they were performing in other less roots oriented groups and decided to try their hand at bluegrass, and that’s when Chatham County Line was formed. They have gone on to tour the world and have released a half dozen records along the way.

The Herd of Main Street is a Baltimore-based band consisting of husband and wife, siblings and friends. Fronted by songwriter Peter McKibben, their sound ranges from vintage rock n' roll to honky tonk to southern rock. Their song “Next Weekend” was chosen as #21 on 89.7, WYPR’s top 89 songs of 2014.
