Opening Reception: Head Out: Paintings by John Hampshire

Opening Reception: Thursday, January 29, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6 p.m.

This solo exhibition includes paintings by New York artist John Hampshire. Called “a virtuoso with a brush” by the New York Times, he is known for his oversized canvases.

Hampshire earned a bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College and Master of Fine Arts degree from SUNY Albany. His work has been featured in galleries throughout the United States, including Hunter Gallery in Newport, R.I., Fulton Street Gallery in Troy, N.Y., Phoenix Gallery in New York, Pierce Gallery at West Virginia University and Walsh Gallery at Georgetown University. He has taught as an associate professor of studio art at SUNY Adirondack since 2005. http://johnhampshire.weebly.com/
