Swan Harbor is a historic farm located at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and the site of Maryland’s first commercial vineyard, planted by estate owner John Adlum. Adlum purchased the five hundred acre farm in 1797 and twelve years later sent a bottle of fine wine to his good friend, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson was so impressed with the quality of wine that he ordered over 100 cuttings from Adlum’s vines to be planted at Monticello.
