Ultrafaux

Ultrafaux

Baltimore band Ultrafaux performs original music composed by guitarist Michael Joseph Harris in the style of Jazz Manouche commonly referred to as Gypsy Jazz. The band is an acoustic powerhouse of two guitars and upright bass. Sami Arefin and Harris trade dazzling leads and harmonize together on rich gypsy-inspired melodies. The dynamic Eddie Hrybyk on upright bass holds down the steady swinging pulse and brings hispassion for improvisation to the group.

After performing as Hot Club of Baltimore for the better part of 2013, the band decided it was time to write their own original music under a new name, so lead guitarist Michael Joseph Harris did just that. They then followed up by raising funds through a kickstarter for the recording, CD, Vinyl LP, and to help fund a music video shot by local cinematographer John Benam.

Since the Ultrafaux CD/LP release on June 5th, the band has gained quick recognition being featured on WTMD, WPFW, The Gazette, City Paper, and Baltimore Jazz Alliance to name a few. Their highly anticipated appearance at Creative Alliance on Nov. 6 will occur after a series of tours through New York, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Ultrafaux will be debuting some new original music at Creative Alliance this year along with music from their acclaimed 2014 release! The dance floor is OPEN! 8pm | $12, $10 mbrs,
