Contemporary Arts, Inc., is pleased to present The Annual John Coltrane Celebration with consummate jazz saxophonist, Carl Grubbs and his special guest, saxophonist and international recording artist, Jaleel Shaw!

Carl Grubbs, 2009 recipient of the prestigious Mary Sawyer Baker Artist Award and the 2014 Ruby’s Artist Award Composer, educator, recording artists leads this stellar cast of players in a dynamic performance of the music of John Coltrane and his own original compositions.

Jaleel is an alto/soprano saxophonist and bandleader; a member of the Roy Haynes Quartet and Tom Harrell’s “Colors of a Dream”. He has performed with Christian McBride, Jason Moran, the Mingus Big Band, Stefon Harris, Roy Hargrove, Chick Corea, Dave Holland and Jimmy Cobb and was listed in Jazz Times Magazine’s 2011 Readers Poll for Alto Saxophonist of the Year.

Carl and Jaleel will be accompanied by Eric Byrd on piano, Blake Meister on bass and John Lamkin III on drums; musicians with a reputation for excellence!

The artists will perform the music of John Coltrane, Carl Grubbs, Jaleel Shaw and traditional jazz classics of the jazz masters!
