Caleb Stein's Round the Mountain

Caleb Stein's Round the Mountain

Caleb Stine, Baltimore’s beloved tall and handsome folk troubadour, returns for another installment of his ‘Round the Mountain show. For this iteration of ‘Round the Mountain, Caleb will be joined by old-time duo Ann Porcella & Bill Schmidt, Crankie puppeteer Katherine Fahey, and master of the American Primitive guitar, Glenn Jones. Together, they will transport audiences to a different dimension, where geopolitical decision making is determined by folk harmonies and roots musicianship. Buckle-up.

About Glenn Jones:
Thrill Jockey recording artist Glenn Jones is a master of American Primitive guitar style, which was codified in the late ‘50s by John Fahey, whose traditional fingerpicking techniques and wide-ranging influences were used to create modern original compositions. Jones, who led the post-rock ensemble Cul de Sac, brings his own made-up tunings, the use of custom-crafted partial capos, and a highly skilled picking style on both banjo and guitar, to create personal compositions that are lyrical, emotive and elegant. What sets him apart from the myriad guitarists playing today is his ability to tell stories with the guitar and banjo, and to convey a range of emotions. This process starts with the compositions themselves and carries through to his selection of recording environment and engineer.

About Ann and Bill
Ann is a powerful singer and guitar player who grew up playing in a family bluegrass band and performs with The Blue Moon Cowgirls. Bill plays a fine banjo, guitar, and fiddle, and is a stalwart of the old-time music scene. They hail from Baltimore and regularly play as a duo.

About Katherine:
Katherine Fahey is Baltimore’s preeminent Crankie designer whose papercut scrolled panoramas have inspired countless artists. She is a designer, performer, and printmaker. Her cut paper and prints have become music posters, shadow puppets, portraits, set design, and animation, including a lush music videos for musicians such as Wye Oak and ellen cherry.
