Joseph Kohl Photography Exhibit Opening Reception at MdHS

Join us for the opening reception of Unscripted Moments: The Life & Photography of Joseph Kohl. Music will be provided by DJ Landis Expandis. Beer will be served by Waverly Brewing Company, with themed light fare and a signature cocktail for the evening prepared by Chef Shirlé Hale-Koslowski of Four Corners Cuisine and Baby’s On Fire cafe. This is a free event, but please RSVP online.

In November 2017 the Maryland Historical Society will open Unscripted Moments: The Life & Photography of Joseph Kohl ,a show that celebrates the life and work of the titular photojournalist and fine art photographer whose life was cut short by leukemia in 2002. The curatorial team consists of MdHS curator of films and photographs, Joe Tropea, City Paper photo editor J.M. Giordano, Washington Post contributing photographer Josh Sisk, and renowned photographer and close personal friend of Kohl, Linda Day Clark. The show will present Kohl’s work as a shooter for the likes of Baltimore Business Journal, News American, City Paper, Afro-American, Village Voice, Catholic Review, and Easy Rider, to name just a few and also include his more private fine art photography. The exhibit includes work made from c.1980 through 2002. There will be a concurrent annex show hanging at the Windup Space (12 North Avenue).
