This interdisciplinary event celebrates the creative genius of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Robert Lowell and explores the links between mental health and art. Johns Hopkins Medicine's Dalio Family Professor in Mood Disorders Kay Redfield Jamison, author of the recently released Lowell biography Setting the River on Fire: A Study of Genius, Mania, and Character, leads a panel discussion on mood disorders and creativity. The concert which follows will feature Peabody faculty composer Michael Hersch's 2014 work Carrion-Miles to Purgatory: 13 pieces after texts of Robert Lowell for violin and cello.

The Panel will occur in the George Peabody Library at 6:00 PM. The Concert will take place following the panel at 8:00PM in The Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall.
