RED BULL AMAPHIKO PREMIERES NEW “BALTIMORE STORIES” DOCUMENTARY SERIES AT SAY IT LOUD FESTIVAL

Noted Baltimore Filmmakers – Charles Cohen, Emily Eaglin, Malaika Clements - Explore Baltimore’s Rich Social and Cultural Fabric

WHAT:

As part of this year’s Say It Loud Film Festival, a Baltimore based festival committed to giving a voice to unheard voices and hidden talent in the world of film,Red Bull Amaphiko will premiere a documentary series “Baltimore Stories” in the lead up to theRed Bull Amaphiko Academy in Baltimore from August 11th-20th. Red Bull partnered with three Baltimore filmmakers – Charles Cohen, Emily Eaglin and Malaika Clements - to tell unique local stories that highlight the people, scenes, and groups making a positive change in Baltimore.

SYNOPSES:

“Baltimore DIY” by Emily Eaglin

Synopsis: Baltimore DIY (directed by Emily Eaglin) is a short documentary that exists in the underground world of Baltimore’s DIY music scene. A world in which musicians’ everyday struggles, passions, and unyielding respect for the hustle are as simultaneously as their collaborations with each other.

“Boots On the Ground” by Charles Cohen

Synopsis: While Climate Change remains a global issue, Bryant “Spoon” Smith and his non-profit, Flight 1 Carriers, represent the only consistent link for large tracks of urban poor who have been left out of the conversation but stand as the most vulnerable to the increasingly eradicate weather hitting the city of Baltimore.

“The Beauty In The Broken” by Malaika Clements

Synopsis: Painting a vivid portrait of Baltimore based mosaic and multi-media artist “Beauty in the Broken” will take the viewers into the mind of multi-faceted creator Loring Cornish. In this video we will highlight Lorings story with an intimate interview, while juxtaposing details of the world the he has created with his joy, pain, trials,and triumphs, all with his hands.

WHY:

The aim of the 10 dayRed Bull Amaphiko Academy is to promote and uplift grassroots social entrepreneurs who are making a positive difference in their respective communities, giving them the inspiration, mentorship and practical skills and tools they need to take their projects to the next level. In the same vein, Red Bull aimed to provide a creative platform for emerging and established filmmakers to tell and celebrate the colorful characters and their various exploits in Baltimore through the “Baltimore Stories” mini documentary series.
