Professional artists from around the Mid-Atlantic region will set up their easels throughout Historic Ellicott City for three days July 7-9, capturing the city’s unique charm and character while competing cash prizes during Paint It! Ellicott City 2017. The public is invited to come watch the painters in action, and artists from the community are invited to join the fun as Open Paint-Out participants.

In addition to the 3-day paint-out, Paint It! Ellicott City will also include a Quick Draw Competition in which artists will compete for a cash prize as they take a painting from start to finish in just two hours.

Following the paint-out, a reception will be held on July 10 from 6-8pm to mark the opening of the Paint It! Ellicott City juried exhibition in Gallery I at the Howard County Arts Council. The evening will feature the presentation of juror awards, as well as a one-night exhibit of works created by community artists participating in the Open Paint-Out.

The Paint It! Ellicott City 2017 exhibit will run from July 10-August 11.

Registration is required for those wishing to be included in the one-night Open Paint-Out exhibit. Registration forms are available at the Arts Council and in the Exhibit Opportunities section of the Arts Council website at hocoarts.org before or during the event.
