First Friday Cinema: "Midnight in Paris"

First Friday Cinema: "Midnight in Paris"

The First Friday Cinema will present "Midnight in Paris" at St. Ignatius Catholic Community on Friday, July 7, at 7:30 PM. There is no charge for this event.

Many a writer or artist has longed to travel back in time to the sizzling Paris of the 1920s, to sip absinthe with Hemingway at Les Deux Magots or dine on choucroute garnie with Picasso at La Rotonde. Imagine the conversation!

What has beguiled audiences about the Woody Allen movie “Midnight in Paris” is that the protagonist, Gil, a disenchanted Hollywood screenwriter played by Owen Wilson, gets to live exactly that fantasy. As he toggles back and forth through time, he will become friends with the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Cole Porter, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, Gertrude Stein, and others in the enormously talented cast of expatriates and bohemians that peopled Jazz Age Paris. In this film, Allen views the illusion people have that a life different from theirs would be much better. Also starring are Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, Carla Bruni, Adrien Brody, among others.

If you’ve never viewed this ‘feel good’ film, you are in for a wonderful treat as you experience Paris in the present, and in La Belle Époque (the Golden Age).

Popcorn, snacks and beverages will be provided.
