Festival Baltimore:
Pianist Redi Llupa Performs the Complete Piano Sonatas by George Walker

Festival Baltimore‘s fourth concert features the complete, mysterious and diverse piano sonatas by George Walker (b. 1922). The five works will be performed by pianist Redi Llupa.

Acclaimed pianist Redi Llupa has performed venues throughout Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. His wide-ranging repertoire extends from Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, and Debussy to Berio, Takemitsu, Messiaen, Lutoslawski, Furrer, Cage, Bejo, and Peçi. He began his studies in his native Albania before venturing to Italy and the United States, studying under luminaries such as Menahem Pressler and Santiago Rodriguez. As an avid advocate for contemporary piano repertoire, Llupa has performed Messiaen’s Oiseaux Exotiques with conductor Gary Green at Miami’s Gusman Hall, and has been part of the new music scene in Boston, focusing on the performance of Luciano Berio’s works. He regularly performs at the Pianodrom International Piano Festival in Tirana, working closely with the Albanian composers in an ongoing effort to promote Albanian contemporary pianistic literature.

Admission to this Festival Baltimore event is free, and tickets are not required.
