JACKSON HOWARD

JACKSON HOWARD

A modern-day troubadour, Jackson Howard blends the captivating prose and storytelling of Paul Simon with the youthful blue-eyed soul of Jason Mraz and a mesmerizing fingerstyle guitar at times reminiscent of Tommy Emmanuel. Howard has played over 500 shows in the past 2.5 years in the US and Iceland, opened for Nicolas David (The Voice) and Nick Jameson of Foghat, and recently completed his 2nd studio album Just for the Mystery with producers Billy Smiley (Newsboys), Ritchie Biggs (Civil Wars, Switchfoot), and Billy Whittington (Amy Grant).

Having earned a PhD and worked in research prior to his music career, many of Jackson’s songs deal with change and our eternal search for self. Introspective yet generalizable, his lyrics touch regret, hope, self-deception, and love - both vacuous and real. His new album Just for the Mystery opens with the bouncy, pop-inspired title track which is a metaphorical exhale, letting go of romanticized memories and acknowledging how easily our minds can deceive us with a “What if?” The album moves through songs written to lift hurting friends such as “A Place in this World” and “Surround You”, to the pain of betrayal in “Dizzy”, existential dilemma in “This Town” and finally to an optimistic hope for truer love in “If I Fall” which laments our consumer dating culture, realizing that true love is not selfish but giving.

With Just for the Mystery set to drop on April 2nd 2017, Howard will begin a tour of the United States east of the Mississippi through the end of August (with a few western exceptions). Catch him live to hear the songs the way they were intended - raw, face to face, and complimented with quirky storytelling and humor.
