Introvert | Extrovert: Paintings by J. T. Kirkland

Introvert | Extrovert: Paintings by J. T. Kirkland

Opening Reception: Thursday, November 20, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. (Artist Talk: 6 p.m.)

Kentucky native and self-taught artist, J.T. Kirkland displays his paintings that celebrate the natural forms found in wood.

“I strive to find clarity and resolution in line, color, and form, while challenging viewers’ perceptions of surface and space through simple, precise gestures on wood,” Kirkland states.

He has exhibited at the Red Door Gallery in Richmond, Va., the Larson Gallery at the University of Minnesota, the PASS Gallery in Washington, D.C., and many others. Three of his works were selected for inclusion in an exhibition focusing on contemporary abstract paintings at Ambassador David Hale’s residence in Beirut, Lebanon, and he is featured in the University of Kentucky Art Museum permanent collection. A semi-finalist for the Sondheim Prize in both 2006 and 2011, Kirkland is represented by Guthrie Contemporary Gallery in New Orleans. http://jtkirkland.com
