Who said we should only celebrate moms one day a year? The Fells Point Business Association will dedicate the entire month of May to celebrating mothers by raising money for one of its neighbors, Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization that works to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families.

For the second year, shops and restaurants in Fells Point will honor mothers worldwide with festive events and specials while generously contributing a portion of their proceeds to benefit Jhpiego’s work. There are 18 businesses participating in this year’s month-long celebration of mothers, with other businesses expected to join the celebration.

Festivities will kick off on May 3 with a Mojitos for Moms happy hour from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Points South Latin Kitchen. Happy hours will be held every Wednesday and the happy hour line-up is:

Additionally, on May 23, Modern Cook Shop will celebrate MOMS ALL DAY by donating a portion of its proceeds to Jhpiego. Guests who purchase their morning coffee; enjoy lunch dinner or happy hour at the restaurant; or buy goods from the market, will help support mothers around the world.

For more than 25 years, Jhpiego’s headquarters have been located in Fells Point. Today, 250 staff work in the Baltimore location to support offices around the world working to save lives, improve health and transform futures in the world’s poorest places.
